Electric Blanket Reviews

!: Electric Blanket Reviews

With the winter nights coming, there is nothing nicer than climbing into a lovely warm bed. With some many different models available, electric blanket reviews are a handy way to decide which one to buy.

There are many brands on the market from Sunbeam to Biddeford to Sealy. I think Sunbeam electric blankets are excellent value for money. The materials used are very soft and most models come with an auto off safety feature. Very handy if you are like me and tend to forget to turn it off.

When you buy an electric blanket, queen sizes can be quite frustrating as they never appeared to fit my queen bed. One side is always left a little short. The sunbeam queen box premium heated blanket was my best investment so far. Not only does it provide ample cover for my bed but it also gives dual control. This has stopped the arguments over one of us being too hot while the other was freezing. With my husband working occasional night shifts, it has also saved us money. I would recommend this to all of my friends.

The Biddeford electric blanket is also good value for its price. Not only does it heat up very well but it also gives ample coverage for a queen size bed. I do wish they would tone down the colors though as personally I find the blues and burgundy a little strong for bedroom colors. Perhaps they would fit in a child's room better? But if you ignore this small aesthetic issue, these blankets do heat up very well although the dial is very sensitive so the temperature can change in your sleep. They are machine washable which is a plus factor in our house when breakfast in bed often end ups over it!

Sealy electric blanket queen is also a good model to buy with most users saying that it worked very well at heating the bed. With prices from upwards you are not going to break any budget buying this make. The most common complaint is that they can be difficult to wash but the good news is that the size of the king and queen electric blankets weren't criticized.

Personally I have never used a soft heat blanket as they are outside my budget for my little luxuries. I would be very interested in trying one though as they look and feel fabulous. However reading some other electric blanket reviews on this make, I think I may have made the right decision in not buying one. The main problem appears to be that the soft heat electric blanket doesn't last for very long whereas both Biddeford and Sunbeam seem to last for years.

It does pay to look at electric blanket reviews when purchasing your new product. The last thing you want is to buy something that is supposed to leave you with a nice cozy feeling but instead you end up with frozen toes and an empty wallet.

We’ve designed a safe and incredibly soft electric blanket that is probably one of the most comfortable blankets you'll ever have the luxury of snuggling up in. This electric blanket starts with super soft micro-plush fabric and decorative triple-ribbed design that is refreshingly smooth next to your skin for the ultimate in luxurious comfort. Constructed within the blanket is the patented Safe & Warm low-voltage technology. This low-voltage blanket includes a small power supply box that changes 120 volt AC home current into non-hazardous low voltage DC current (very similar to a battery) to provide warmth, protection and safety even if the blanket becomes wet. Unlike other warming blankets with their thick bulky wires, the wires in the Soft Heat blankets are so small and thin; they are virtually unnoticeable. During construction we place the thin wires 3-inches apart and evenly distribute them from head to toe. The benefit to you is a blanket that gives more of an even heat and all over penetrating warmth with no annoying hot or cold spots. The king size blanket is divided in two separate zones and comes standard with two easy to read, easy to turn, non-slip computerized controllers to adjust the temperature of each side of the bed giving individual comfort and control. A giant backlit display with auto dimming feature provides more convenience for night time adjustments with out having to turn on the lights. It has an automatic pre-heat and hold feature that makes sure that your bed is warm and cozy before you climb in for the night. You simply turn it on and the blanket will warm up on HI until it reaches the temperature that you pre set your dial on and then adjusts itself to hold it there. For your safety, convenience and power conservation it has an automatic shut off feature that will shut the blanket off after 10 hours just in case you forget. It also comes standard with built in over-temperature protection for that extra bit of safety and peace of mind.

Solar Blankets - A Smart Buy for Your Pool

!: Solar Blankets - A Smart Buy for Your Pool

When it comes to outdoor swimming pools, you have your pool heaters, pool filter, and possibly even some flotation devices for your kids. But do you have solar blankets? Supplies such as the ones mentioned are the ones that you need so that you can make your time at the pool more enjoyable as well. The following are some thoughts and suggestions for the best locations to find the best blankets, in addition to how you can save some of that hard earned money when you purchase these as well as other pool accessories from preferred sources.

How They Work

Solar blankets are an ideal item for families that prefer to swim more often than most, because it gives you the ability to keep the pool open more frequently. How the blanket accomplishes it's main task is to trap heat from the sun as it is draped over your pool, so you are capable of heating the water in a natural manner, and you will be able to swim even in the fall season because the sun will keep the water at a comfortable temperature. Also, typically solar blankets are somewhat less expensive than an elaborate swimming pool heating system.

There are an assortment of different blankets that you can find for your pool, however the quality solar blankets are constructed of resin, which is resistant to water. The blanket should also be equipped with tiny pockets that are designed to trap dirt as well as pollutants that may otherwise get trapped within your pool.

You can also buy blankets that are made from aluminum added to their material; what this accomplishes is the aluminum acts as a heat conductor, so the water is heated faster, and is kept warmer for extended periods of time. This is particularly helpful if you own a smaller size swimming pool, and wish to use it as a makeshift hot tub on certain instances where you simply want to relax and do not necessarily wish to go for a swim.

Added Design Functionality

While the majority of these solar blankets are of a light to medium blue in color (mostly for matching the color of the water) clear diamond colors are reasonably new creation to the solar blanket that might be a better selection if you own a larger pool. The air pockets located inside the blanket are diamond-shaped, as opposed to circular in shape, as in the majority of solar blankets.

What this accomplishes is the process of heat retention is quicker as well as more effective. Hence, you will be able to keep your pool heated including in the months where the weather might be too cold for swimming in other regions.

If, on the other hand, you own a smaller pool, or wish to be certain that your pool is not completely too cold to take a swim in, you might wish to think about buying solar sun rings. They are not as big as solar blankets are, and you might need to buy more than one so that you can cover the pool, however they work with your pool's integrated installed heating system to keep your pool somewhat warmer each day.

If you have a smaller pool, or want to make sure that your pool is not entirely too cold to swim in, you may want to consider purchasing solar sun rings. They are not as large as solar blankets, and you may have to purchase a few in order to cover your pool, but they work with your pool's installed heating system to keep your pool just a little warmer every day.

Electric Blankets or a Hot Water Bottle?

!: Electric Blankets or a Hot Water Bottle?

Winter nights can be very, very cold - so cold, in some places, that no matter how many blankets and quilts you put over yourself, you never seem to get any warmer. The solution to the problem, of course, is to snuggle yourself under an electrically heated blanket: just plug it in, and keep warm. Seems easy enough, right?

Well, not really. Unfortunately, electric blankets have got something of a negative reputation. As recently as a decade ago, they had a tendency to injure their users, by causing electric shocks, burns or even fires. Older electric fires are still causing thousands of fires a year today, and people who can't feel heat can still be burned even by safer modern electric blankets.

Used carefully, however, electric blankets can be safe, as long as you make sure to buy a new one (never buy one second hand) and check that you are sensitive enough to heat to feel if it gets too hot. You may also consider simply using the electric blanket to warm the bed up before you get into it, but not actually sleeping underneath the electric blanket, instead unplugging and removing it before you go to bed. Make extra sure that the blanket never gets wet, and that you don't use it together with any other blankets. Finally, you should replace the electric blanket every few years, or sooner if it starts to look like it is in bad condition.

For many people, though, having to deal with all these risks to use such a simple thing seems too much trouble. The best and most common alternative to the electric blanket is probably the hot water bottle, as hot water bottles cool down rather than getting warmer over time, and can be fitted with special soft covers to avoid burning you. They are also much cheaper.
